HAVING MET ONLY DAYS BEFORE…
The young, doe-eyed Crystal Vargas elopes with a dashing Brit named Duncan Douglas who seems to be everything she’s ever wanted. Without realizing it, her desperation to be loved plays well into the hands of her new husband, a cunning sociopath in need of an American bride to help him maintain appearances. When Crystal’s sister, Lyssa, notices suspicious changes in her sibling’s behavior and her application for her security clearance is denied, Lyssa hires a private investigator to look into her mysterious brother-in-law. While the truth might prove her right, it might also cost Crystal her life.
MEET THE CHARACTERS
Who is this character? That’s what Crystal wanted to find out. But her sister Lyssa already knew — she could tell he was bad news. Tall, and well-built with black hair, blue eyes and a devilish grin, Duncan made for the perfect blend of charm and mystery that Crystal could not resist. With his dynamic personality, beautiful foreign cars, motorcycles and impeccable timing, Duncan found Crystal to be a nice addition to his facade.
The problem with playing the role of the victim is that sooner or later you actually become one. Crystal was just as blind to her own enchanting beauty as she was to her emotional short-comings. Freshly launched from a sheltered upbringing, Crystal moves back home because she couldn’t find a job after graduation. Under pressure from her family, she accepts a marketing position at an engineering firm where Duncan, “the office stud,” sweeps her off her feet.
Every story has three sides. It’s been Lyssa’s job to provide the objective balance, the sane perspective. But after a childhood full of selfish decisions and playing her sister against their parents, and vice versa, Lyssa’s heartfelt warning to Crystal about Duncan came too late. Just when Lyssa is about to give up on her sister, she dispatches a professional to help. Little did she know it would turn out to be a deadly mistake.
